Impeccable turnout is the standard of the mare and foal presentations.

Photo Above: Top honors in the non-Hanoverian class at the 2006 Home Again Farm inspection was the impeccably groomed and correctly posed KWPN-registered mare Tamarinde (Jazz-Acacia/Matador II), owned by Judy Yancey, Ocala, Fla. This elegant mare scored a 9 on her type and for her impulsion and elasticity. With a final score of 7.91 (second-highest of the 2006 inspections), Tamarinde proved to be a worthy winner of the non-Hanoverian mare neck sash.

From the AHS Central Office

The AHS was established in 1978 with only 40 members and has since developed into one of the leading and most respected warmblood breed organizations in the country with a membership of more than 2,300 individuals.

Sharing a reciprocal studbook, the AHS’s breeding rules and goals are consistent with those of the Hannoveraner Verband (HV), with whom the AHS enjoys a very close working relationship. This year we welcome the HV’s President Manfred Schaefer, who will be accompanied by Dr. Ludwig Christmann, a long standing friend of the American Hanoverian Society. They will participate in the inspections at a number of sites, including the two stallion licensings.

Standard Order of Go

In order to make the best use of the commission’s time, inspection sites will follow a Standard Order of Go. The only exceptions will be the stallion licensing sites, Hilltop Farm and Starr Vaughn Equestrian, plus the two-day events at Oakwood Farm and Hedgeland Equestrian Center. Following is the Standard Order of Go:

Enrollment

All horses must be pre-enrolled and all fees must be paid in advance. Entries are not taken on the day of the inspection. Entries received after the posted deadline are subject to a late fee. If you have any questions regarding the tour, please contact the central office at (859) 255-4141. The staff is more than pleased to assist you with any inspection inquiries you may have. Good luck on inspection day; we look forward to meeting you.

General Information and Instructions

While the registration of foals and inspection of mares may seem complicated, especially to our first-time participants, it actually is quite straightforward. We hope to streamline the process for you and for the host farms with the information contained here. All entries must be made using the inspection tour enrollment form; completed forms are returned to the AHS Office. A Stabling Form is provided should you require stabling, and this should be sent directly to the host of the Inspection site you have chosen to attend.

Inspection Enrollment Form

To register foals, enroll mares and/or stallions for inspection, or mares for the Mare Performance Test, this form (in center of book) must be filled in completely and returned to the AHS Office. Forms should be returned promptly as many sites have limited space. Use the appropriate form (summer or fall) for the inspection site you choose to attend. Fees for ALL inspections MUST be paid in advance. This speeds up the paperwork on the day of the inspection tremendously. A fee schedule for most inspection-related services appears on the back of the enrollment form. Mare Inspection and/or Foal Registration forms for the summer and fall tours that are not received (regardless of date of mailing) at the central office by the deadline will incur a $30.00 Late Fee. Important Notice: The only summer tour exception concerns stallion enrollment.

For those foals that will not be attending an inspection, on the enrollment form delete “Inspection Site” and make notation “Registration by Mail.”

Mare Inspections

A copy of the registration certificate of every mare enrolled for inspection must be submitted with the enrollment form. Entries that lack this documentation may be delayed. The owner of any non-Hanoverian warmblood mare enrolled for AHS inspection must submit a copy of the mare’s registration papers to the Central Office for review by the AHS Mare & Stallion Committee. Owners of such mares will be promptly advised as to their mare’s inspection eligibility with AHS. Registered Thoroughbred, Arabian, and Anglo-Arabian mares are automatically eligible, but their owners must provide a copy of their mare’s registration certificate when enrolling. For Thoroughbreds only, a 5-generation pedigree will be required if the mare is accepted. The original certificate of registration for every mare being inspected must be available at the inspection site.
