2005 AHS Sport Horse Breeding Awards
The American Hanoverian Society is pleased to announce our Year-End Award winners in the Sport Horse Breeding Divisions. The winners are divided into four categories: Young Horses – Fillies, Young Horses – Colts/Geldings, Mature Mares, and Stallions (who must be licensed by AHS). The top placing horses are listed below. We award a Championship cooler to the Champions of each division and an etched piece of glassware to the Reserve Champions at our Annual Meeting in February. Congratulations to the winners and to all of the Hanoverians out there showing in the Sport Horse Breed Shows!
Like USDF, we require that each horse shows in at least three shows, and before at least two different judges, and we use the median of the scores earned to determine each horse's "final score". The formula for determining a median depending on how many shows the horse attended, is published by USDF.
However, there are two main ways in which our scoring differs from USDF:
The AHS uses the whole calendar year – it runs from January 1 to December 31 while the USDF runs from October 1 through September 30.
The AHS DOES NOT count the scores horses earned in Regional Finals classes and the USDF does. A Regional Final class is only open to those who have qualified from the various shows in a region; therefore it is a "closed" or "limited" class and we feel that we should only count scores from open, age and sex specific classes that all horses are eligible to enter. Because of these two differences, our year end results differ slightly from USDF's. Sometimes this works in a horse's favor, sometimes not! Also, please note that although we sponsor and encourage shows to offer Hanoverian IBC's (Individual Breed Classes – open only to Hanoverians) so that you have another class in which you can show your horse, neither USDF nor the AHS uses those scores toward year-end scores.
Again, we offer our congratulations to all our Hanoverians competing and winning in the Sport Horse Breed Shows and special congratulations to our Year End Winners!
