Wallstreet Kid was by Warkant out of SPS Erina, by Eiger and was bred in Germany by Guenter Heller. He was the top selling horse at the Verden Yearling Sale in 1990.
The best horse in the world is gone. The Elite Hanoverian stallion Wallstreet Kid was euthanized shortly after midnight on May 31. He had a ruptured stomach due to undetermined causes. He was 20-years-old and I owned him for 19 of those years. Yes, he was the best — to me, anyway.

He had fabulous credentials:  Kid was by Warkant out of SPS Erina, by Eiger and was bred in Germany by Guenter Heller. He was the top selling horse at the Verden Yearling Sale in 1990. He was Champion of the Stallion Licensing in 1991 and Reserve Champion of the 100-Day Stallion Test in 1993, placing first in rideability.

He was a blast to ride. He had all the FEI movements. He was ridden mostly by amateur women who actually learned along with him. Of course, we had one of the best coaches in Jeremy Beale who taught me and everyone else who rode Kid for any length of time. Kid would try to do anything his rider asked, he never said “No.” In his later years he taught total beginners to ride and gave advancing riders the feel of collection, piaffe, and flying changes. He even taught them to jump. He never complained. All he wanted was to be the center of attention and do whatever job was asked of him.

He was a great sire. His offspring excelled in all disciplines. He has many sons and daughters winning in dressage at all levels. In 2007, Kid had five offspring qualified for the USDF GAIG Championships in Region 1 alone: Willie B Irish out of Irish Cent xx/Steel Curtain xx, owned and bred by Robin Birk, as well as Westbound Kid, owned by Joan Fontes, and Willow Bae, owned by Susan Harrington, both out of EM Davignette/Davignon and bred by me, all qualified at First Level; Walbelart (show name Waldo) out of Treveri/Trapper, owned and bred by Robert and Phyllis Svendsen, qualified at Second Level; and Weltenschouung (show name Welle) out of Walhalla/Winnetou West, owned by Jeanne Karver and bred by Diana Thomson, qualified at Third Level. These horses are now competing at Third and Fourth Level.

Kid produced successful show hunters by the dozen, among them Wallstreet Week out of a Thoroughbred mare, who was Best Young Horse at Devon, Champion of the Three-Year-Old division at Upperville, winning many other championships over the years, and Wallstreet Native out of Davona Native xx/Feel the Power xx, owned by Christie Dowling, bred by Karen Holweck-Mulreany, who won the AHS award for Top Children’s Hunter in 2005. Kid even produced a daughter that competed successfully in eventing with owner Kim Seversen – Wallstreet Whisper out of Avaria/Parlay, bred by Jennifer Theriault.

I can’t begin to list all of Kid’s super offspring, top foal, Main Studbook and Elite Mares, and talented competition horses.  But the most important thing is how much he was loved, not only by me, but also by the many people who knew him personally. Needless to say, he will be missed. — Pat Limage, Bae Prid Farm

[Editor’s Note: The AHS registered the first Wallstreet Kid foals in 1993, with his last entered in 2007. To date he has 116 AHS-registered offspring including 28 Main Studbook mares, with Elite Mares Woerannika, Witch of Wallstreet, Whallis Blue, Wrobin, and EMC Weltenschouung, two Studbook mares, five Pre-Studbook mares, plus 13 Certificate of Pedigree horses.]
