It is with great sadness that the AHS reports the loss of yet another Elite Stallion in recent weeks as the Strahan family's Mister A (Matcho x-Goldeiche/Goldstein) has passed away.

ES For Paragon (1994-2008)

The Elite Hanoverian stallion For Paragon (For Pleasure-SPS Pascona/Pinkus) has passed away due to injuries incurred in a stable accident. From 1998 through 2007, For Paragon sired 20 AHS registered offspring, including two Main Studbook mares.

ES Graf Genius (1991-2008)

Louise Broadley of Honey Locust Farm lost her gray Hanoverian
stallion Graf Genius (Graf Sponeck-Tarah/Trapper) to colic in
mid-March. A Jumper Breeding Program sire, he was bred in
Germany by Hans-Hermann Schroeder and was 17 years old.

ES Wümmestern (1985-2007)

From 17 crops, 1989 plus 1991-2006, Wuemmestern has sired 146 foals registered with the American Hanoverian Society. This total does not include the foal crop of 2007, two of whom already have pending registration. A total of 39 mares by Wuemmestern have been graded into the studbooks, comprising 30 Main Studbook (including Elite Mares Furistan, Fabelhaft, Frederica, Forsythia, and For Hope), four Studbook, and five Pre-Studbook. Additonally he is the sire of 15 Certificate of Pedigree horses.

Canada Loses International Show Jumper and Sire, Rio Grande

The Elite Hanoverian stallion Rio Grande (Raphael-Wandra/Windhuk) passed away on May 21, 2007. Rio Grande has 57 AHS registered offspring, the first of which were registered in 1993. Based in Canada, the vast majority of Rio Grande's foals were registered by the VhW. However with the establishment of the North American Jumper Breeding Program, AHS breeders showed a renewed interest in Rio Grande and AHS registered nine of his foals in 2006.
