Personal Membership
There are three types of memberships: Active, Associate and Junior. Life membership is equivalent to an active membership, and is available at ten times the current annual active membership rate. At the end of each year, all current members are invoiced for the dues required to retain good standing.
Active Membership
Owners, of an Elite, Main Studbook, Studbook, or Pre-Studbook mare are, required to be active members. in order to register foals. Active members receive society publications at no cost, and may participate in membership meetings. They are also entitled to vote in society elections. A member must be the owner of record of a horse entered into the AHS database in order to vote. Active members are eligible to hold office, serve on committees and participate in the year-end Awards Program.
Associate Membership
Associate members receive the AHS magazine at no cost (other publications may require purchase) and are eligible to participate in the Awards Program. Associate members may not register horses; however they may attend annual membership meetings, but are not permitted to vote.
Junior Membership
Junior memberships allow those under 21 years of age to participate in the Awards Program on AHS registered horses. Junior members may not vote or register horses.
Canadian Associate
Canadian Associate memberships receive the AHS magazine at no cost (other publications require purchase) and are eligible to participate in the Awards Program. Canadian Associate members may not vote or register horses.
