The 16th Annual AHS Stallion Service Auction
Please note that the close of the auction has been rescheduled for one week later than the original date of February 17 to allow ample time for the mailing of the winter AHS magazine to reach our members.
The annual AHS Stallion Service Auction is your opportunity to purchase a breeding at a discount price and at the same time help promote the American Hanoverian horse! For complete and detailed information on any ancillary costs associated with breeding to each stallion, always call the phone number listed next to each stallion's name before you place your bid. Booking fees or deposits for shipping, collecting, containers or mare care are usually required by stallion managers prior to breeding your mare. Please note that any such fees associated with the purchase of any of the donated breedings are the responsibility of the mare owner. Also note that residents of Kentucky purchasing breedings to stallions standing in Kentucky will be required to pay a 6% State Sales Tax on the bid amount, which is payable to the AHS. The proceeds of the auction benefit all American Hanoverian breeders, mare owners and stallion owners through increased promotion of the American Hanoverian in advertising, event promotion and our significant awards programs. Second Round "Buy it Now" Bidding Stallions who do not receive bids when the main auction ends will be put back up on the auction site the next day for second-round “Buy It Now” bidding. Last year they included some excellent choices for bidders who missed out in the first round. Added Promotion for Donated Stallions With the new auction software put in place three years ago, we are also able to retrieve the bidding history and unsuccessful bidder information from the program, so we supplied the stallion owners with contacts for the bidders that showed interest in their stallion but did not win. Additionally, each donated stallion’s photo and information, including links to the owner’s e-mail and website addresses, were prominently displayed on the individual auction pages, and promoted through banner advertising on both the auction site as well as the AHS home page. Many stallions received upwards of 1,000 hits on their individual pages alone, providing yet another valuable marketing tool for the owners in return for their donation. |
